Season 1, Episode 9 History Repeating Aired 12/11/09

Emily, Bonnie’s ancestor, makes an attempt to communicate with Bonnie through her dreams and ends up actually possessing Bonnie while she, Caroline, and Elena had a seance. It seems that Emily is Katherine’s handmaiden. Emily cast a magic spell that saved Katherine and other vampires’ lives by trapping them under a church a long time ago.

This episode discovers why Damon came back to Cryptic Falls. He would like to get Bonnie’s crystal to release Katherine. Emily’s ghost annihilates the crystal before he could release the vampires from under the church. After Emily leaves Bonnie’s body, Damon attacks Bonnie. After Emily leaves Bonni’s body our local bad Vamp attacks her and she is only saved by Stefan by giving her his blood. Damon tells Stefan how much Katherine meant to him. Now with everything that has happened it’s simply too late, there is no reason for him to be in Mystic Falls anymore.

After seeing Stefan give his own blood to save Bonnies, Elena changes her mind and yearns to be with Stefan once more. In light of everything that has happened Stefan no longer feels the same way and tells her of his intention to leave Mystic Falls and her behind. Naturally Elena doesn’t want him to leave and she explains to Bonnie what has really been going on in recent times with Stefans agreement. Matt tells Carolina he doesn’t actually like her and a new project given by a new teacher to Jeremy means that he has to investigate the towns past. Meanwhile someone has turned Elena’s Aunt Jenna’s ex-boyfriend into a Vampire and the episode ends and he shows u whilst prepares for bed.
