The second episode of The Vampire Diaries opens with us watching Stefan and Elena writing about liking one another in their diaries and being busted in History class for gazing at one another by the teacher. Matt fills Elena in on the state of Vicki, enlightening her that his mom is still away in Virginia beach with her partner and that Vicki thinks she got attacked by vampires but announces she was drunk so may have been incorrect. He also asks Elena what is up with her and the new guy but they shuffle round the issue, seemingly not a great one to talk about. Stefan has been listening into the conversation with his super-hearing but when Elena turns around to find him, he has vanished into thin air as it seems!! Jenna asked to come into college to chat to Jeremy’s teacher who is insulting and hurtful to her making her down for making an attempt to care for her niece and nephew – enlightening her that she cannot handle the responsibility of taking the place of their deceased parents.
In the meantime , Stefan follows Matt to the hospice and uncovers Vicki, making an attempt to convince her that this was an animal that attacked her and not a vampire. When Matt gets to the room, he discovers Vicki sleeping and notices Stefan creeping away down the hall.
Stefan hides in a blood-transfusion room and vanishes before Matt can find him.
Jenna attempts to talk to Jeremy but he does not listen, leaving to see Vicki in the surgery. She attests to Matt that this was merely an animal that attacked her after all… Elena heads to Mossy Manse and knocks on the door and when nobody answers, she enters. A crow flies at her and Damon appears behind her. Stefan appears quickly to ward off any stories that Damon might tell about him and then acts like he barely knows Elena in any way.
Vicki is freed from the surgery to discover a hospitable Jeremy. She’s in the women room at the Cryptic Griddle when Damon comes and takes her onto the roof, convincing her that this was Stefan that bit her and not Damon or any other animal. Elena gives Jenna a talk about how she’s got to be the parent now and heads to Stefan’s. They talk about what the write in their diaries that will lead to making out! Jeremy, in the meantime, has to observe Vicki getting back with Tyler. Damon is seen approaching Caroline, his eyes go bloodshot and the veins in his face pop out…Caroline screams…closing the episode.
